William Yosemar Arteaga Diaz
While visiting another patient referral case in the community of Cedros, the patient referral team came across a little boy named William. William was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as, Brittle Bone Disease. Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a congenital bone disorder characterized by brittle bones that are prone to fracture
William is an only child and lives with his mother. His mother is constantly worrying about him, in fear that he may fall. The patient referral team is looking into providing William with a walker and ankle braces to stabilize his gait. With specialized walkers, strollers, and braces, we are anticipating an estimated cost of $2500-$3000 to close his case.
Update: Because William is so prone to bone's breaking, on March 28th, William's mother called us because he was at a hospital because he had broken a bone. The patient referral team is waiting for funds to help William for the future to prevent more broken bones.
