Expressed Needs and Capacities

The community of Arimae has an established parent-teacher committee, as well as a religious committee.  Areas in which the community would like improve include access to clean water, and improvements in housing and human waste management.

Education

Tranquilla has an elementary school, with classes held for students grades kindergarten through 6th. Nine teachers run the school, teaching about 150 students in total.

Water

Tranquilla has its own Water Committee, the members of which maintain their gravity water system.

Health

Tranquilla does not have its own health center or post. Nearly all the homes have latrines and cement floors. About 70% of home have a working stove in the home.

Socio-Economics

About 90% of the population of Tranquilla works in agriculture. Most commonly, those who work in agriculture grow rice, corn, yuca, beans, bananas, and plantains.
