with an average of 3-4 inhabitants per home. The community is primarily
Latino, but there are nearby indigenous communities such as Piriatí
Emberá as well. Quebrada Cali community members typically earn their

The community's farmers produce corn, rice, yams, yuca, plantains,
lentils, and beans.
Brigade Site Information
Since space is limited in the health center, we hold brigades at the Quebada
Cali's elementary school. The school is still relatively small, with about
3 rooms: 2 classrooms and a library. Additionally, the school has a
playground, a dining room, and a kitchen. Volunteers will see an average
of 80 patients per day, and doctors typically spend about 10 minutes with
each patient. Brigades are able to provide an average of 9-10 hours of
health education for both adults and children at each brigade.
