La Yeguada Medical Access

La Yeguada is located in the Coclé province of West Panama, about two
hours away from Penonome, the province capital. There is a health

center located in a nearby town, about 15 minutes away from La

Yeguada.  However, this center is hardly ever staffed, and often does

not have medications. Therefore, community members must travel

about 1 hour by bus to La Huaca to receive more adequate care.

Community Demographics

La Yeguada is home to about 700 people and has about 150 homes,
with an average of 4-5 inhabitants per home.  La Yeguada is primarily a

Latino community. There is no electricty in the community.

Brigade Site Information

With the cooperation of the Education Ministry and the local school

director, Medical and Dental Brigades host clinics in the community

school. The school consists of 6 classrooms, and an outdoor kitchen

area.  There is plenty of space to host the clinic, and lead charlas

inside a classroom for adults, and outside for the kids.
