As a Catholic and a Hispanic who has been blessed to attend the University of Notre Dame, I feel the need to reciprocate aid to those who have not been as fortunate as I am. In my studies, it has been constantly been stressed that directly serving the poor is the greatest form of living out the Gospel, and I especially feel the need to help those in Nicaragua because I have ventured there before. Last year, I witnessed first-hand the effects of poor nutrition and medical care. Working towards being a medical physician and combined with my need to provide aid to the poverty-stricken, I please advocate you to donate towards our cause and to keep the preferential option for the poor in mind.
