This May 22nd –29th, I will have the unique opportunity of traveling to Honduras with a group of thirty students and medical professionals with the University of Missouri’s Global Medical Brigades program. Global Medical Brigades encourages university students to have an educational and hands-on experience to provide medical care in third world countries where it is so desperately needed. We will spend a week traveling to underserved, rural areas around the country of Honduras, setting up temporary clinics where people can come and receive medical treatment free of charge. I am extremely passionate about the aid I will provide and the experience I will receive in return. We are all very excited to see how much we can accomplish with our enthusiasm and willingness to help with your support. I want you to understand why I feel Honduras needs our help and, in turn, be as passionate about this program as I am. In Honduras, the average family does not have a doctor within a 20 mile radius, lives on a family income of less than a dollar a day, and has less than 3 gallons of water for daily consumption. The average level of education is the fourth grade and twenty percent of patients have never seen a doctor outside of Global Medical Brigades. So as you can see, our services are very important to them! In order for this trip to be a success, I need your support. I am looking for sponsors to support my trip and mission to help others. The total trip cost is $1,600 with airfare included, and I must fundraise what I can to support my trip.
