3/28/2026: 200 GBP in brigade accounts
5/27/2026: Flights approved by GB and booking confirmations sent to your PA
6/26/2026: remaining donation goal due

What you should know

Age Range: 68% of Belizeans are between the ages of 15–64

Healthcare Challenges: Belize’s healthcare system faces challenges in reaching its dispersed rural populations, especially in the southern districts and among Indigenous Maya and Garifuna communities. While urban centers offer public health services, access in remote areas is limited by geography and resources.

Global Brigades’ Approach: Our global health initiatives in Belize work to strengthen care delivery in rural communities through in-home visits, mobile clinics and education efforts alongside local health authorities.

Passport Requirements

A valid passport is required to travel on all Global Brigades programs. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. This is required by most countries for entry. If you’re applying for or renewing a passport, we recommend doing so as early as possible, as processing times may vary. Not a U.S. citizen? Please check with your advisor for country-specific requirements.

Team Flights

When to book: Seven (7) months out from Brigade, your Program Advisor will reach out to you concerning flight options and airfare quotes.

If you’re not booking in the group flight block, please coordinate your flights with your Program Advisor. Note: Additional fees will be added to your total donation goal.

Safety & Security

Safety and Security is our top priority when you’re on Brigade. Review our Safety & Security measures with your group and share with your family.

GB Traveler's Insurance

Automatically applied for all volunteers while on Brigade. It includes emergency medical care, evacuation support, and travel-related incidents like lost baggage or delayed flights. Please review our insurance to understand what is (and isn’t) included.

Health & Vaccine Preparation

Understanding vaccines is an important pre-planning activity. We encourage every participant to consult with their healthcare provider or campus health clinic at least 6–8 weeks before departure to review the CDC's country-specific recommendations.

Depending on your destination and time of year, your provider may recommend vaccines like Hepatitis A, Typhoid, or routine boosters such as Tetanus. Here are some helpful resources so your team can feel informed and confident while planning ahead. Preparing for your health is one more way we show respect for the communities we partner with, and for one another.

Ghana Only

Yellow Fever — Mandatory

The Yellow Fever vaccine is mandatory and must be documented in an official Yellow Card (International Certificate of Vaccination). You’ll need to present this at immigration when you arrive. Plan ahead, as appointments for Yellow Fever vaccination can be limited. Find a clinic in your region.
