Global Water Brigades combines numerous issues within underprivileged communities. Many medical problems result from contaminated water, so developing healthy water systems is crucial to public health. Many water sources are miles away, causing individuals to walk hours to water, which is a burden that usually falls on women and children. Obtaining clean water takes away time from other activities, like education oneself. This is why Global Water Brigades is so crucial to communities. Furthermore, these systems are engineered with leaders of the community. Actual community members will be telling us to do. That way when we leave they are independent and self-sufficient, all while utilizing sustainable materials.
