Global Brigades is an amazing organization that strives to sustainably transition communities to meet better economic and health standards. I have the opportunity to travel to Ekumfi, Ghana on the Medical Brigade this upcoming June for 10 days. In this region there is only 1 doctor for every 48,000 people. Through myself and my team going, an additional 7,200 people have access to being seen by a doctor that would not have been able to before. In that time, we will be working in a clinic with the National Ghanian Ministry of Health where we will be shadowing doctors, taking initial triage, filling prescriptions, and helping to improve accessibility to health care in Ghana. This trip is important to me because beginning at the age of 4, I first attended a school that focused on bringing water pipelines and solar panels to communities in Ghana. This trip would bring my volunteering full circle for me- where I am able to see lasting impacts on the community while continuing to serve. This is my first opportunity to visit the country, in addition to this being my first brigade ever. My goal this year is to raise $2,000 and it would mean the world to me if you helped me reach my goal as I am self funding my trip! All donations are safe to complete online and come with a receipt.
