Business Description

Elvita Ismare is a member of the community bank in Pueblo Nuevo. Both Elvita and her husband are able to make a living by selling plantains and other agricultural tasks. She has not taken out a loan from the community bank because she does not feel as though she knows enough yet to pay it back. If she took out a loan, she would use it to invest in the cultivation of cassava. She would like to learn more about savings and how to manage her spending, now that both Elvita and her husband are older finding a job it is more difficult.

• She is a member of the community bank, so she has been receiving basic financial education from previous brigades.

Business Obstacles: 

• Now that both Elvita and her husband are older, they have more difficulty working the land. They may need to invest in paying day-laborers for the production of their plantains, which will cut into their earnings.
• They have a low level of education.

Your Task 

• First, get to know your client and her business.  Build a trust between you and your client.
• Learn about her business’ strengths and weaknesses.
• Group will be working with our AgroBusiness technician to teach Elvita and her husband better farming techniques for her plantain plot.
• Based on your recommendations, update/supplement this business profile.
• Create a Business Plan and Yield Projections for Elvita's farm.
